The Weimaraner is a dog that was originally bred for hunting in the early 19th century. Early Weimaraners were used by Royalty in Germany for hunting "large game", such as boars, bears and deer. The name itself comes from the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Karl August, whose court, based in the city of Weimar (now in the state of Thuringia in modern-day Germany), enjoyed hunting. They were eventually also used for hunting smaller animals like fowl, rabbits and foxes. With time their usage extended a lot further than central Europe as the word for their capabilities and characteristics spread. The Weimaraner breed proved itself to be of a unique value to hunters and combined with its rare natural beauty and friendly character it became very attractive and desired all over the world.
"Ace" is our Blue Weimaraner Male Dog. He is a 92 pounds athletic and muscular giant with very gentle and friendly attitude. He has blue/green eyes and a loyal and friendly gaze. With his proven pedigree, he has a great "game" sense of smell and he very often performs as the best "retriever" and "pointer" from the group in difficult hunting situations. He is an excellent guard dog with sound and deep bark and very significant presence. You will love his kids!
